Role Responsibilities
Working closely with the Software Development Director, the Web Development Technical Lead oversees one or more software development teams within a product.
They are responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining modern web applications according to business needs and understanding how web applications play their part in a wider API-driven enterprise software platform.
They contribute to software tooling and processes within their teams that produce high-quality software product and service.
They understand the importance of mentorship in their team, inspiring and leading team members to do their best work.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
∙ Build front-end applications with best-in-class UI architecture and performance with an emphasis on application security, resilience, and extensibility.
∙ Be the technology thought leader in the usage of web and mobile technologies and the deployment and maintenance of solutions via the web.
∙ Ensure all application solutioning maintains application security, data security, and data integrity.
∙ Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices within the development teams as required to meet quality and time to market imperatives.
∙ Establish hiring/contracting bar for developers on, near, and offshore.
∙ Expertise in the operation of a solid and secure Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline with appropriate segregation of duties.
∙ Participate in interviewing and provide input into hiring decisions.
∙ Participate in identifying, evaluating and selecting new and emerging technologies that can be assimilated within the company and significantly improve competitiveness. ∙ Ensure appropriate controls are in place to meet or exceed regulatory, compliance, and security requirements.
Job Requirements
∙ Expert level knowledge of modern web frameworks and languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bootstrap, jQuery, React, Angular and Nodejs.
∙ Development experience or knowledge of Java/Spring Boot is highly regarded, as is developing for cloud environments in GCP and/or AWS and will be the source of data over public and private APIs
∙ Deep technical understanding of cloud-native development, programming languages, algorithms, and optimization, in relation to modern web and SPAs
∙ Highly experienced in the architecture and development of UI that communicate securely over Restful Open APIs via JSON and other data formats.
∙ Exceptionally strong leadership and mentoring skills to manage development teams mixed with on-premises, near-shore, and off-shore resources across multiple time zones. ∙ Experience and understanding of developing software within an Agile methodology and experience with DevOps practices.
∙ Knowledge of git-based development, software versioning
∙ Experience of TDD, unit and integration testing and developing to coding standards that produce high quality and robust code that contributes to a high-quality software platform in a regulatory controlled environment.
∙ Significant experience with development tooling, such as IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and general agile methodology facilitation tools (Jira, Confluence).
∙ Demonstrated ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects.
∙ An entrepreneurial attitude and full understanding of what it takes to operate in a very dynamic, fast-paced and results oriented environment.
